Statement
E Pluribus/Body Politic. From the many of us–we are one. In constant flux, scrambling, climbing, and struggling, we join to make a moving, constantly changing and functioning political body. Together we must decide, moment by moment, which direction that body moves…the unending struggle of democracy.

Biography
Tom Otterness has completed over forty permanent public commissions around the world. Twelve of those are in the New York City area, including The Real World (or Penny Park) in Battery Park City and Life Underground for the MTA 14th Street subway station on Eighth Avenue. His work is also in the collections of Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of New Art in Tasmania, as well as others in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He attended the Art Students League and the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program. He was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1952 and lives and works in New York City.
